Nationality:  Dutch
Status: Married, three children.
Current Position: Director Kadaster International and Professor at the International Institute for Geoinformation Science and Earth Observation ITC.

Professional Career

Prof. Ir. Paul van der Molen, born in Zeist in 1950. After his secondary school (1967), studies in geodesy at the Delft Technical University (1973). After two years navy officer, he joined the Netherlands Land Registry and Cadastre Agency (1975).

After 8 years experience in land consolidation projects, he became managing director of the regional office in the province Zeeland (1983) and in Gelderland (1986). In 1991 he became director Land Information and Geodesy at the headoffice in Apeldoorn. In 2002 he became (part time) director Kadaster International, in charge with the international co-operation.

In the meantime he was appointed as a part time professor at the International Institute for Geoinformation Science and Earth Observation ITC in Enschede (2000).

He was the president of the Netherlands Association for Geodesy (1987- 1995) and president of the Netherlands Foundation for Geodesy, a federation of 4 Netherlands associations in the field of geo-information and geodesy (1995-2000)

In 2001 he was awarded an honorary membership of the Netherlands Association for Geodesy, member of FIG.

Since 1995 he is director of the Office International du Cadastre et Régime Foncier, the 'OICRF' (International Bureau of Land Records), the FIG Documentation centre for cadastre and land records.

In 2002 he was elected as chairperson of FIG Commission 7 (Cadastre and land Management) for the period 2002-2006.
