The 48th FIG General Assembly will take place as part of the FIG Working Week 2025 in Brisbane,
Australia on:
Sunday 6 April at 9:00 - 16:00 AEST
and
Thursday 10 April at 9:00 - 12:00 AEST

The General Assembly will be held onsite for delegates and
observers who will be attending the Working Week in Brisbane
Agenda highlights
FIG President Diane Dumashie and her council are looking forward to
greeting many members, presidents, heads of delegation and FIG
representatives onsite in Brisbane, Australia. During the Assembly
the Council, alongside chairs of Commissions, Networks, Permanent
Institutions, and Task Forces, will provide updates on their ongoing
work. FIG Council has received a nomination for Honorary Member, and
there is a proposal for a change of leadership in one of the Permanent
Institutions. Additionally, council proposes a change of FIG Internal Rules in
regard to the election of Commission Chairs Elects.
Elections
The above proposal for change of the Internal Rules will beincluded
in the online voting sheet. Hereto, there will be election of the 10
positions as Chairs Elects for the commissions. For Commission 3
(Spatial Information Management) there will be three candidates to
choose between. The final election will be on the FIG Working Week 2029,
for which there are two exciting candidates. All candidates, both for
the commission chairs elects and destinations will be given time at the
General Assembly to present themselves.
As in the previous years election will be taking place online during
the Working Week utilizing the same voting system. All association
members in good standing (meaning that they have no arrears) can cast
their votes. Member associations are asked to register their official
delegate and to participate actively.
In 2025 there can be up to 2 voting rounds. To conclude the election
by the second General Assembly on Thursday 10 April, the first round of
viting will commence on Tuesday 8 April at 13:00 AEST (Australian
Eastern Standard Time), aligning with the time zone of the Working Week
destination, Brisbane. In case one of the three candidate will get more
than 50% of the votes in the first round, this candidate will be
elected. If no candidate gets more than 50% of the votes there will be a
second round of election for Commission 3 Chair Elect between the two
candidates with the most votes.
